📦 The Day That Started It All
It was an average weekday. I’d ordered a few things online — nothing urgent, just the usual household items. The package was dropped off at the front door while I was at work.
When I got home and picked it up, I noticed something odd: a small folded piece of paper tucked under the package’s edge. Thinking it might be a packing slip, I opened it.
“Hi, I don’t want to alarm you, but I’ve noticed a man in a dark hoodie standing near your house the last three times I’ve delivered here. He’s always just watching from the sidewalk. Not sure if he’s a neighbor or not, but thought you should know. Stay safe.”

My heart skipped a beat.
🧠 At First, I Thought… Maybe It’s Nothing?
Could it be someone just passing by? A random neighbor? Was he being overly cautious?
But something about the note stuck with me. This wasn’t just someone being nosey — it was someone taking the time to warn me. A stranger who saw something odd and thought I deserved to know.
That night, I checked with my immediate neighbors. None had seen anything unusual. But I couldn’t shake the unease.
That’s when I made the decision:
I was going to install security cameras.
🎥 The Camera That Caught Everything
Within a few days, I had a home security system installed — including smart cameras at the front and back of the house, motion-activated lights, and a doorbell cam.
At 2:13 a.m., motion detection was triggered.
There he was.
A man in a dark hoodie, standing just off my driveway, staring at the house. He didn’t approach the door — just stood there for several minutes, looking around, then slowly walked away.
I sent the footage to the local police. They told me there had been a string of attempted break-ins in the neighborhood recently — and that this man matched descriptions they’d received.
🙏 Why I’ll Always Be Grateful to That Delivery Driver
If he hadn’t left that note…
If I had ignored it or tossed it aside…
If I hadn’t taken action when I did…
Who knows what might have happened?
His small gesture led me to protect my home, inform law enforcement, and possibly help prevent a break-in not only at my house but others nearby.
