3-Packet Slow Cooker Pot Roast

🛒 Why It’s Called “3-Packet” Roast

It’s all about the seasoning! This recipe gets its name (and incredible flavor) from three humble seasoning packets that work together like magic:

  • Ranch dressing mix
  • Brown gravy mix
  • Italian dressing mix

Combined, they create a savory, herby, slightly tangy sauce that cooks low and slow with the beef — resulting in a roast that’s juicy, tender, and downright addictive.

🥄 Ingredients

  • 1 (3–4 lb) chuck roast
  • 1 packet ranch dressing mix
  • 1 packet brown gravy mix
  • 1 packet Italian dressing mix
  • 1/2 cup water (or beef broth for extra richness)
  • Optional: potatoes, carrots, onions (chunked)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Prep the Crockpot
Place the chuck roast in the bottom of your slow cooker.
  2. Add Seasoning
Sprinkle the three seasoning packets evenly over the top of the roast.
  3. Add Liquid
Pour water or broth around (not directly over) the roast to avoid washing off the seasoning.
  4. Optional Veggies
Add carrots, potatoes, and onions around the roast if you like a full one-pot meal.
  5. Cook Low & Slow
Cover and cook on LOW for 8–9 hours or HIGH for 4–5 hours, until the roast is fork-tender.
  6. Shred & Serve
Shred the beef in the juices, stir gently, and serve hot with veggies and a drizzle of that savory gravy.

📝 Tips & Variations

  • Want a thicker gravy? Remove roast and veggies, whisk 1 tbsp of cornstarch into the juices, and cook on high until thickened.
  • Make it spicy: Add a few pepperoncini peppers for a kick (a twist on Mississippi Pot Roast).
  • Low-sodium option: Use low-sodium seasoning packets or broth if needed.
  • Leftovers? Use them in sandwiches, wraps, or over mashed potatoes the next day.

🍽 What to Serve With It

  • Mashed potatoes or creamy polenta
  • Buttered egg noodles or rice
  • Roasted green beans or steamed broccoli
  • Crusty bread to soak up all that savory sauce
