Ingredients
- 1 pound ground chicken
- ½ cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese (or a mix of both)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 ½ cups breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
- Vegetable oil, for frying (or baking option below)
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken Mixture
In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, shredded cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until everything is well blended. - Shape the Nuggets
Using your hands, form small nugget-sized pieces (about 1 ½ inches wide). Place them on a parchment-lined tray. - Coat the Nuggets
Roll each nugget in flour, dip into the beaten eggs, then coat with breadcrumbs. For extra crunch, double-dip by repeating the egg and breadcrumb coating. - Fry or Bake
- To Fry: Heat about ½ inch of oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry nuggets in batches for 3–4 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through.
- To Bake: Place coated nuggets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Lightly spray with oil and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 18–20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Serve Hot
Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces — ketchup, ranch, honey mustard, or even spicy mayo.
Tips for Perfect Cheesy Chicken Nuggets
- Use cold cheese: It helps the nuggets hold their shape and keeps the cheese from leaking out during cooking.
- Mix up your cheeses: Mozzarella gives you a perfect melt, while cheddar adds a sharper flavor.
- Make them ahead: Shape and bread the nuggets, then freeze them for easy weeknight meals — just bake straight from frozen!
- Want it healthier? Try air-frying for a crispy texture with less oil.
