Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese (or a mix of both)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 ½ cups breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying (or baking option below)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken Mixture
In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, shredded cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until everything is well blended.
  2. Shape the Nuggets
Using your hands, form small nugget-sized pieces (about 1 ½ inches wide). Place them on a parchment-lined tray.
  3. Coat the Nuggets
Roll each nugget in flour, dip into the beaten eggs, then coat with breadcrumbs. For extra crunch, double-dip by repeating the egg and breadcrumb coating.
  4. Fry or Bake
    • To Fry: Heat about ½ inch of oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry nuggets in batches for 3–4 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through.
    • To Bake: Place coated nuggets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Lightly spray with oil and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 18–20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  5. Serve Hot
Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces — ketchup, ranch, honey mustard, or even spicy mayo.

Tips for Perfect Cheesy Chicken Nuggets

  • Use cold cheese: It helps the nuggets hold their shape and keeps the cheese from leaking out during cooking.
  • Mix up your cheeses: Mozzarella gives you a perfect melt, while cheddar adds a sharper flavor.
  • Make them ahead: Shape and bread the nuggets, then freeze them for easy weeknight meals — just bake straight from frozen!
  • Want it healthier? Try air-frying for a crispy texture with less oil.
