Ingredients You’ll Need
Here’s what you’ll need to make fried cream corn at home:
- Fresh or frozen corn kernels – 2 cups
- All-purpose flour – ½ cup
- Cornstarch – 2 tablespoons
- Sugar – 1 tablespoon (optional, enhances sweetness)
- Salt – ½ teaspoon
- Black pepper – ¼ teaspoon
- Milk or cream – ¼ cup
- Egg – 1, beaten
- Oil – for frying
- Optional: chopped herbs (like parsley or chives) for garnish
How to Make Fried Cream Corn
- Prepare the Corn Mixture:
In a mixing bowl, combine the corn kernels, flour, cornstarch, sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir in the milk and beaten egg until the mixture is slightly thick but well coated. - Heat the Oil:
Pour oil into a frying pan to about ¼ inch depth and heat over medium heat. The oil should be hot but not smoking — about 350°F if using a thermometer. - Fry the Corn:
Drop spoonfuls of the corn mixture into the hot oil, flattening slightly with the back of the spoon. Fry until golden brown and crispy on one side, about 3–4 minutes, then flip and cook the other side. - Drain and Serve:
Remove the fried cream corn from the pan and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and serve immediately. -
