Ingredients

  • ½ cup (1 stick) butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • Optional: ½ cup chocolate chips or chopped nuts for extra texture

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Add Dry Ingredients
Sift in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Stir until just combined — be careful not to overmix, or the brownies may become cakey instead of fudgy.
  4. Optional Add-Ins
Fold in chocolate chips or nuts for an extra layer of flavor and texture.
  5. Bake
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  6. Cool and Serve
Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before slicing. Serve as-is, or with a scoop of ice cream for a classic dessert experience.
